Emile Chahine

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Hospice Care Ottawa’s Maison de l’Est at the age of 76.

Beloved husband of Elisabeth (née Dib) and loving father of Marie (Antoine Haddad) and Arze. Proud grandfather of Michael, Cybelle (Mario Cruz), and Antoine, and cherished great-grandfather of Anaia Cruz.

Dear brother of George (Waddad), Elias, and Amal (Tony Ghattas). He will be lovingly remembered by his extended family, including many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Marie (née Khoury) and Karim Chahine, and his sister, Samira (George Papadapoulos).

Emile was particularly proud of being a licensed driver for 59 years and an exemplary professional taxi driver in Ottawa for over 25 years.

Through decades of service, he became much more than a driver—he was a trusted friend, a helping hand, and a comforting presence to many. Cherished by all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and compassion that will never be forgotten.

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa or St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
