Pat is survived by Bob Smith, her husband of 49 years, her 4 children, Craig (Ling), Evelyn, Neil (Kate) and Sharon (Damian), and 6 grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers Ross, Eric and David (predeceased by Geordie).

Pat worked as a family doctor, first in Hawkesbury for 14 years and then for another 24 years with a very friendly and capable medical group in downtown Ottawa.

She enjoyed raising her 4 children while working as a family doctor. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and good friends, as well as gardening, two book clubs, time at the cottage and travel with Bob, her family and friends. She will be missed by those who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at Beechwood Cemetery; visitation from 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. and the ceremony at 10:30 a.m on Wed. Aug. 26, 2026.

Donations in her memory may be made to Medicins sans Frontieres.

  1. While we never met, I feel like we did because Bob and I have been friends for some time. Moreover, our spouses have been in declining health for the past few years and we have tried to help each other through this journey. Bob, I hope that you and your family can take comfort from the great memories accumulated over the years and that your sorrow is soon replaced by pride and the warmth that only comes from love. Pat Ross

  2. We extend our sincerest condolences to Bob, family and friends. We fondly remember from our younger days our MOC hikes with Pat, time together at McGill and cherish the reunions held in more recent years.

  3. Bob and family – our deepest thoughts to you at this difficult time. We’ll miss Pat’s broad interests and pleasant smile. We’ll be there in spirit on Wednesday as we are away from the area currently.

  4. So sorry for your loss! We have lots of great memories of Pat and hanging out at the Smiths farm with Aunt Catherine and Uncle Bill. Pat was a delight to chat with and you knew she was such a caring person. Hugs to you Bobby and your family.

  5. Our deepest condolences to you Bob and your family.

  6. Our sincere sympathy to you and all of your family at this sad time. Pat was a lovely person, warm and caring, with an infectious smile. She will be missed.

  8. Dear Bob and Family

    Sorry for your loss.

  9. Dear Bob, please accept our condolences. We have very fond memories of the years your family spent in our area and the time Pat worked at the HGH.
We keep you and your family in our thoughts & prayers.

  10. I am very saddened to learn of Pat’s passing. Although I had not seen her in many years, I remember her as a truly special person — warm, thoughtful, and always genuinely interested in others.

She devoted so many years of her life to caring for people as a family physician, and I can only imagine how many lives she touched throughout her career.

She will clearly be remembered with great affection by so many whose lives she touched.

Robert, my deepest condolences to you, your four children, and the entire family.

  11. My deepest sympathy to you, Bob, and to your family at this sad time.
