It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Claudette Marie Winchester (nee Black) on April 22, 2026. She will be missed by her husband, of 67 years, Lee, her four children, Tim (Vicky), Terri (Tony), Tony (Kim), Tammi, sister Bettyann and brother Gord (Sheila). She was a proud mother, grandmother and recently, a great grandmother.
Born in Collette, New Brunswick, September 20, 1939, she was a proud Acadian, always in search of the joys in life. Mom lived life to the fullest, looking for new experiences. She had an infectious laugh, and a quick tongue, that would catch you off guard. She was generous to a fault, hoping that she could help you in some small way.
As Franciscans, she shared a devout faith life with her devoted husband, Lee, who she met in elementary school in Saint John, NB. Mom was genuinely curious about people’s origins and acquaintances were never forgotten, with her uncanny ability to connect names from relatively inconsequential events of the past.
Acts of kindness never went unnoticed, she always had a pen and paper, to write down the names of people in her day that made life better for someone else. Whether it was a smile or a kind gesture, she believed in taking the time to write a note, to tell you how special you are. Her notes were always armed with gold and silver confetti angels which earned her the nickname “Angel Lady”.
Throughout her health journey, we were blessed with support from an army of professional, compassionate healthcare care workers. We would like to thank, Dr Bouffard, the PSW teams from CBI/Carefor and most notably, the Monfort Hospital staff who cared for her as we unknowingly navigated her final days. Claudette/Mom will be missed.
