With the heaviest of hearts, we announce our mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marie, Irene, Ida PIERRETTE (nee Fournier) PRETTY passed away on May 19th after a long battle with dementia and congestive heart failure.

She leaves to mourn, her husband of 65 years, Harold, her children Marilyn (Jean), Jim (Francine), Donna, honorary son, Grant Wilkinson, as well as  her four grandchildren: Jason (Alicia), Stefane, Patrick, Pamela and her great grandson Logan.

Born in Ottawa, June 24, 1941, she took a career at the RCMP where she met her handsome Mountie Harold and lived a full, remarkable life. Mom loved Harold and her family fiercely.  After having 3 children, she went back to work at the House of Commons. In her retirement she was an extremely talented painter. Pierrette was beautiful, brilliant, quirky,  funny and so full of life that her smile lit up the room. Everyone that met her loved her. Our world will never be the same without her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery , 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON, Wednesday, May 27th  from 1 – 4 pm

Tributes to Pierrette will be read by the family at: 2 pm

Cremation has taken place and internment will be held at another location at a later date with her immediate family.

A special thank you to Dr. Alexandria Roy as well as the devoted, loving staff at the Waterford Retirement Residence. A special note of sincere gratitude to the nurses, PSWs and all the staff connected to the Windsong unit.

Mom, you will live on eternally, in our hearts.

  2. My deepest and heartfelt sincere condolences. Growing up with Pierrette and Harold was like having a second family and that continued my whole life.
Not only did they visit us in Europe so many times, they were my go to on my travels to Canada. I will never forget Pierrette for her laughter, huge beautiful smile, and all of the hugs that I received from a young childhood, up to 19 September 2024 when I saw her and Harold the last time. I love you guys.
Please be strong, it’s going to be hard. But I know she’s not alone – she’s gonna have a blast with my mom and dad. Hugs and kisses from Northern Ontario. XOXO

  3. She will be dearly missed. Rest in peace.❤️💕

  4. A light ✨️ that will missed

  5. Very sorry for your family loss.

  6. Donna grief is the price we pay for love. And you are paying dearly now, we know. Our sincerest sympathy.

  7. My heartfelt condolences to Jim, the family, and my partner, Grant. I only met Pierrette once, at their home, on one our visits to Ottawa. Her presence of laughter, joy, and unconditional love was completely disarming. Of course, I fell in love. I’m thinking of all of you as you relive memories and confront such a powerful loss.

  8. My deepest condolences, Mr. Pretty, Donna, Jim, Marilyn & families. May you find peace & solace in the wonderful memories you shared. I have very fond memories of the times I spent at your house growing up.
Rest in peace Mrs. Pretty. 🙏🏻

  9. Words cannot adequately capture the essence and the beauty that is Pierette Pretty, my other mother. I say “is” and not “was” because in my mind and in my heart she still lives full of love, life and laughter. Her kindness, her playfulness, her enthusiasm and creativity will never leave me. She is permanently etched in my heart. Every memory a blessing. I laugh when I hear her infectious laugh. I smile when she when she winks at me after saying something “risqué.” I relax knowing that I am loved by her for she loved freely and without judgement. She is not gone. She’s just in the other room. I can hear St. Peter laughing right now. Thanks Pete. I look forward to having you near me the remainder of my days.

  10. Such a loving, vibrant and fun lady! I always admired the love she & Harold shared until the end! She was so proud of all her children & grandchildren and you all supported and cared for her in her battle with dementia. Hugs and prayers to you all as you mourn. A bright light has gone out in our world.
