For generations, members of Ottawa’s policing community have served and protected Canada’s capital. At Beechwood, the Ottawa Police Service Memorial Cemetery provides a publicly accessible place where this service can be honoured, remembered and better understood.
Our new history page explores how the section was created and developed through a partnership between the Ottawa Police Service, the Ottawa Police Association, the Senior Officers’ Association, the Ottawa Police Veterans Association and the Beechwood Cemetery Foundation.
Visitors can learn about the cemetery’s major milestones, monuments and ceremonies, including the Main Monument, the historic Canadian Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial tablets and the annual flag-raising ceremony.
