Peacefully in Ottawa at the age of 74 after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Evelyn (née Pengally) and the late Norman Kidd of Toronto, Ontario. She leaves behind her beloved husband James and three daughters, Carlie, Laura, and Sarah (Andrew) of Ottawa. Proud grandmother of Marianne, Jerome, Tyson, and Cedric. Sister to Patricia Sales (Floyd) and Lorna Novlan (the late Delbert), and loving aunt and cousin to many.
Thelma was born and raised in Toronto, and moved to London, Ontario, where she met Jim and his Fiat sports car. After moves to Goose Bay, NL, and Huntingdon, England, they settled in Ottawa to raise their children and made lifelong friends in Ottawa South and Beacon Hill. A landmark in the Ottawa quilting community, Thelma won several international and national awards, and believed that quilters gave the world hugs through fabric.
Family and friends are invited to a reception in honour of Thelma on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Beechwood National memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
