In Loving Memory of Vera Bespalova (1951–2023)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vera Bespalova, a cherished mother, grandmother, and beloved member of the community. Vera's journey came to a peaceful end on August 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ukraine in 1951, Vera's life was a testament to resilience and strength. She embraced her Ukrainian heritage with pride, passing on its rich traditions to her family. As a devoted mother, she raised her two daughters, Olena and Natasha, and her son, Leonid, with unwavering love and care. Her guidance and support shaped their lives in profound ways.

Vera's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She welcomed her son-in-laws, Robert and Michel, into her heart, treating them as her own. Her nephew, Misha, held a special place in her life, as did her four adored grandchildren, Karolina, Amelia, Anatoly, and Maximus. Her warm presence and kind words created a lasting bond with each of them.  They all called her Babka.

Vera's love for life was contagious. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was tending to her garden, preparing traditional Ukrainian dishes, or camping with her dear friends, and sharing stories and memories. Her laughter filled every room, and her generosity knew no bounds.

Her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Vera's memory will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she gave. As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman, let us celebrate her life and the enduring impact she leaves behind.

A memorial service will be held in her honor to pay tribute to the remarkable woman she was at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1:00PM.

Rest in peace, dear Mamochka. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.

“We love you more!”

My heart goes out to every member of Vera’s family. She was a large, strong but gentle presence, and she will not be easily forgotten. We became friends during my hair appointments over many, many years.
