In Loving Memory of Ronnie Yamamoto
Ronnie Yamamoto, age 88, passed away on February 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 16, 1935 in Vancouver, B.C., he lived a life filled with equal shares of hardship and joy. His life experiences helped form the characters of his spouse, four children and four grandchildren.
Ronnie’s journey through his cancer demonstrated the true spirit of a warrior, optimist and perseverance. Through positive thinking, finding humour and resilience, even in times of trying adversity, he never lost hope and fought with valour.
Ronnie is survived by his spouse of over 50 years who personified true love and devotion to him during the hardest of times, his three children who will dearly miss and cherish the endless memories of firsts which became traditions and his four grandchildren who remember him for his generosity, wisdom and as a human encyclopaedia. He will be greeted above by his eldest daughter whom will surely embrace him with open arms.
Ronnie leaves behind real life examples of hard work ethic and true passion. With his work of 40 years with the Canadian Government including the Canadian Coast Guard and thoroughly enjoying all the challenges and learning opportunities it provided, he equally loved baseball, fishing and tinkering with computers.
May Ronnie rest in peace in eternity knowing that he has left behind his legacy through his wife, children, grandchildren, son-in-law and all the people he has encountered. As his nephew said, “For those who knew him, no words are required and for those who didn’t, no words are possible”.

I feel very sorry about Tsugio's loss. When I lived with him and his family in Ottawa, he showed me his generosity and kindness. I still remember all of the things he did to me. I know he now rests in peace with Sachiko.
