1949 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Aubut on June 15th, 2024 after a very short, but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved father and hero to Stéphanie Aubut and Michelle Aubut (Jennifer Rhéaume). Adored Pepère to Mia, Greyson, Riley, Jaxton and Jack.  Paul is survived by his sister Mona (James Lavertu) and his nieces and nephews and their children, Edward Lavertu (Martha), Mike Lavertu (Monique), Christina Steenstra (Peter) and Emily Lavertu (Dario). Paul will be sadly missed by Louise Nadeau, his common law partner, as well as Marc, Claire, Michelle and family. He also leaves in mourning the mother of his children, Judy Blyth. Paul was predeceased by father Lionel Aubut and mother Odélie Aubut (Savoie).

Paul will be remembered for his perpetual smile, his generosity and above all, his love of family. A creative and determined man, Paul was loved, nurtured and inspired by two large family clans, the Aubut’s and the Savoie’s. He treasured his roots which were the source of his identity and the wellspring of his love, generosity and loyalty for family.

Passionate and driven to succeed, he recognized and seized the right opportunities in the early seventies and used his many talents and entrepreneurial skills to build from the ground up a hugely successful and thriving translation business in Ottawa. With unmatched determination and work ethic, Paul grew Aubut & Associates as a family business.  His daughters are an integral part of the company and they will treasure each business email from him, no matter how serious the subject, always signed ‘Love, Dad’.  He was a mentor to many people and colleagues, who remember him today with gratitude.

His second career, beer league hockey, started at age 45 and allowed him to forge many precious friendships with his teammates that last to this day. We are all so much richer to have crossed paths with Paul.

Friends, colleagues and family, are invited to gather for a celebration of life on Saturday June 29th 2024 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa after 1 pm. A ceremony will be held at 2 pm with a reception to follow from 3 to 5 pm.

In remembrance of Paul’s life, he had asked that any charitable donations be made to the Maison Matthieu Froment-Savoie.

Michelle and Stéphanie, Your dad was a force of nature. He will be deeply missed by so many of us, especially by you two, his pride and joy. His ambition, hard work and humanity improved the lives of countless people over the years, including me and my family. He truly made a mark on the world.

To members of the family. We really wish there were words to take away your suffering, but sometimes no amount of words are sufficient. Kindly accept our deepest sympathy at your loss. Given Paul's battle with cancer, may his soul rest in peace.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to Steph, Mitch and all of the family. Paul was a special person and I feel so privileged to call him my friend. Paul was my very first business landlord in 2002. My office was beside Aubut & Associates on Maclaren St and directly between Paul's office and the girl's office. We shared many laughs and I have fond memories of those golden years together. Rest in peace Paul, I know you are playing your saxophone for us and shining down on us everyday. Lots of love always ❤️

I am very saddened to hear of Paul's passing, but glad I was able to visit him at the General Hospital recently. Stephanie, I have fond memories of the day we helped you bring the hay in and all those laughs.
Wish I could be at the funeral
RIP Paul

Paul was a hockey buddy and he joined us whenever he could on our December trips to Montreal for our weekend hockey tournament. We always had a wonderful time with hockey, visits to the various pubs and late night restaurant visits for smoked meat sandwiches. Paul became a friend, we had lunches together, talked business and enjoyed each others company. He always had a ready smile and great humour. We will miss him very much. God bless his family and sincere condolences for their loss.
