Died peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Afif Nasrallah. Loving mother of Joseph Nasrallah and Gilbert Nasrallah (Aneta Nasrallah). Cherished grandmother of Keenan Nasrallah and Ethen Nasrallah. Daughter of the late Chukrallah and late Olga Nasrallah. Predeceased by her brother Michel Nasrallah (Montaha Nasrallah) and sister Hind Nesrallah (late Essa Nesrallah).

Nazik was born in Beirut, Lebanon and spent her early years working as a seamstress to help support her family. She eventually made her way to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where she married the love of her life Afif and had two sons which they both adored.

Following the untimely passing of Afif in 1980, Nazik dedicated her life to selflessly raising her sons and ensuring that they wanted for nothing. She would even drive her two aspiring rockstar sons to and from band practice before either was old enough to acquire their driver’s license. This along with putting up with hours of loud heavy metal music emanating from her basement at the house where she lived on Traverse Drive qualifies her for sainthood.

When Nazik wasn’t catching up on her favourite soap opera, the Young & the Restless, or spending time with family, she tirelessly created masterpieces of Lebanese cuisine in her modest kitchen. She was an accomplished cook and baker and her Tabouleh remains legendary to this day. Many Sunday evenings were spent with family feasting on her sumptuous steak, turkey or roast beef dinners, forging memories of her that will live on with her kids and grandkids.

Nazik’s faith in God was unshakable. She attended mass regularly for years at St. Elijah church and when she was no longer able to physically do so, she would watch the mass on her tablet from home. In fact, it’s rumoured that the only reason she ever got on Facebook was so that she could have access to the broadcast from her church.

The birth of her grandchildren revitalized her zest for life and she doted on them endlessly with love and of course, food.

Nazik will be dearly missed by many extended family members and friends. In keeping with Nazik’s wishes, a private family gathering presided over by Father Ghattas with interment at Beechwood Cemetery has taken place.
