Peacefully, on September 15, 2024, after a short illness, in her 93rd year.  Daughter of the late Michael Graziadei and Dorina Joannis.  Predeceased by her sister Carmelia (Ron Alexander) and survived by her brother Paul Graziadei (Betty-Lou Langton). Predeceased by her first husband Charles-Roger Laflamme (1984), her brothers-in-law, Jean-Édouard, Paul-Emile, and Pierre-Yvon and survived by her sister-in-law, Marie-Claire Pierrard.  Predeceased by her second husband Edward “Bud” Muise (2016) and survived by her sister-in-law Eulice (late Al Harris).

Loving mother of Michel-Édouard (Teresa Martin), Carmélie (Donnie Neron), Marc (Debbie MacLennan) and Julie (Pierre Levesque). Stepmother of Bruce Muise (Karen Doherty).   Loving grandmother of Jessica, Mikaël, Sasha, Tiffany, Victoria, Eric, Nicholas, Zoé, Mieka, Francis, Dominic, Krystel, Valerie and Philip. Also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Lorraine was raised and lived most of her life in Lowertown, Ottawa. This is where she met her first husband, Charles-Roger. They moved to Sandy Hill and raised their four children together. From the anchor of those roots, she explored the world both near and far—from a family cottage in Luskville, Quebec to Western Canada, California, Europe, and a special trip to Italy with her children in 2016, where she visited her grandfather’s village.

Early in her 37-year career at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Lorraine met and married Bud Muise. Always a trail blazer, she bicycled to work in a floppy hat and dress. She took care to stand out in brightly coloured, boldly designed clothes, dressing to the nines every morning and proudly never owning a pair of jeans.

Not one to sit still, Lorraine was a member of the R.A. Ski Club and often skied in the Italian Alps, Swiss Alps, and Lake Tahoe. She played tennis with the Rideau Tennis Club, was an accomplished bowler, avid card player, passionate gardener, and danced well into her senior years. She was happiest among people and at parties, which may be why she also learned to play piano, sing, tap dance, and clog. Well into her 80s, she loved to be included in condo parties, dances, and outings to restaurants, beer gardens, and festivals. She even went zip lining across a lake and hiking in the Gatineau hills. Being the oldest person at a gathering was no deterrent—she’d say “yes!” to every invitation even before knowing what it was for.

Community—especially her beloved Lowertown—was always close to Lorraine’s heart. She formed a friendly group with her lifelong Lowertown neighbours, volunteered at the Shepherds of Good Hope, and was a member of the Good Companions Seniors Club, where she hiked and cycled with friends.

The family would like to thank Marie and Kevin Roy and the staff at the Extendicare Starwood LTC home (2 south), with heartfelt thanks to Kathy and Tammy for their exceptional care.

A Visitation will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 13:00 to 14:45, a Funeral Mass will follow at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica (385 Sussex Dr, Ottawa, Ontario) at 15:00, followed by a Reception at Beechwood Cemetery from 16:00 to 19:00.  Internment at Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.

Charitable donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Shepherds of Good Hope and ALS Canada. Messages of condolence may be left at www.beechwoodottawa.ca

She had a beautiful smile. I only met her a few times. I enjoyed those special moments. I also enjoyed the pictures Carmelie shared of their special lunch dates! She looked like she cherished those moments.

The Hajjar sisters are very saddened by the news of Lorraine's passing. We've had so many wonderful and fun years being neighbors on Clarence and getting to know each other's families. Lorraine was special. May she rest in peace. She deserves it.

When we lived in Ottawa Loraine and Bud were very good friends and our social lives and activities were filled because of them. One of our memorable trips was to Nova Scotia to see the Tall Ships. Gail tapped and clogged with Loraine and the Active Living program was a regular event.
