Larry passed away peacefully at the St Vincent hospital on Wednesday October 16, 2019. He is now in the arms of his wife of 62 years, Terry, who passed in 2017.

Larry had a 29 year career in the Ordnance Corps,  in the Canadian Armed Forces. He retired to pursue a second career as a civilian with the Canadian Government. This lead to his third career as a Consultant, travelling extensively between Canada and Germany.

Cherished husband of Anna-Claire (Terry). Beloved father of Dr Peter Brownrigg (Linda), Susan Brownrigg Smith (Brian) and Stephen Brownrigg (Maj. Ret), (Gail).  Larry leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Dr Danae Brownrigg Kirk (Chris), Erik Brownrigg, Drew Smith, Danielle Smith Lackey (Jordan), Amanda Brownrigg Donald (Mitchell), Tristan Brownrigg. Also 5 beloved great-Grandchildren, Eliana, Cooper, Maverick, Daphne and Julia.

Larry treasured his many travels with his lovely wife Terry,  which included world wide cruises and adventures. He also had a very special place in his heart for Germany, not only due to work but also attending jovial Octoberfest events.

The family will be receiving friends at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Wednesday, October 23rd after 1 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at 3 p.m. and 4 pm interment in the National Military Cemetery. A Reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Larry’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society is greatly appreciated.

We are very sad to learn about Larry's passing and submit our sincere condolences. We knew each other since some decades and enjoyed working together on the wild cat LEOPARD. I will never forget being in his home in November 2006 to prepare the presentation for LEOPARD2 which successfully brought LEOPARD2 to Canadian Army.
Larrry was an extraordinary partner, I enjoyed the evenings with him and his hat on Oktobefest. Larry was a great man as Terry has been a wonderful lady. His passing is a big loss for his family but also the community of his friends. Bye Larry - may be we'll see again.

Larry, We will miss you and Terry. You were a man of great integrity who did credit to the Canadian Army and to what was then the Department of Supply and Services. You played an important role in ensuring that if our soldiers went into danger they had armour to protect them. You also brought up wonderful children.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Greg Burton, Ottawa

To Susan and Stephen and the Brownrigg family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your father Larry. I only had the privilege of knowing him later in his life, but he was always an interesting and engaging man who provided great advice based on long experience. He will be missed. I am sure your many happy memories of Larry will help to dull the sadness.
Sincerest condolences,
Greg Burton

Larry, you were a mentor, model and friend. An enduring presence in the community of "techies". We will remember you.
