Passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Riverpath Retirement Residence; age 79 years. She was the loving mother of Silvina Almeida and cherished grandmother of Olivier León Young. Henriette will also be sadly missed by many friends met while growing up and living most of her life in Ottawa, working in the Government of Canada, and her time in Brazil. She has built many lifelong friendships and made special friends and memories throughout different times of her life and travels. Her friends will be remembered forever in her heart. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the caring staff of Riverpath Retirement Residence for providing such dedicated and comfortable care to Henriette in her time with them.
Henriette has shown much strength and courage fighting hard against her Parkinson’s Disease of 15 years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory towards Parkinson’s Canada.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, for a Graveside Service at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Reception from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I will always remember Ms. Almeida’s beautiful smile - welcoming us teenage girls into her home for our Kris Kringle celebrations or fun girl gatherings, supporting our Flute Quartet events and her genuine interest in getting to know all of Silvina’s friends always asking us about our lives and families. I only got to know Henriette for the last 2 years at Riverpath. Right away she was so opening to me, we just clicked and a great friendship was formed, we went through all the good and the bad times together. She was a strong and extraordinary person and it was such an honour getting to know her the way I did. She will truly be missed by so many, the world is already a lot less brighter without her in it❤️
