With heavy hearts, our family announces that Eleanor passed away at the Waterford Retirement Community in Ottawa on Thursday morning, July 27th, 2023; Eleanor Francis Dow formerly of Ottawa South was in her 91st year.  Eleanor was predeceased by her sister, June Brown and her brother, Robert Moore.

Loved mother of Adam Dow (Anita Bloemen) and very proud grandmother of Dalton Duraj and Saxon Dow.

Eleanor spent her career as a bookkeeper for the Canadian Brotherhood of Royal Transit & General Workers.  She was devoted mother and grandmother who loved to travel.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Waterford for the wonderful care and compassion over the past 5 plus years.

Eleanor’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Beechwood Cemetery.  A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Lynda and Gary Davenport

We have wonderful memories of Aunt Eleanor in Muskoka over many years. She was very good at helping us all understand Moore family history and how things were best to be done. She was stately and dignified and a wonderful sister to June. Our sincer condolences to Adam and his entire family. Love Lynda, Gary and family.

Aunt Eleanor was our special Aunt - so elegant and poised. She bought me my first pair of high heels on a summer visit to Ottawa. She was a loving sister to my Mom - June. She helped us keep our connection to Bracebridge , to Muskoka , to our family's history there. We have many happy memories of her in Toronto at St Barnabus, in Bracebridge and in Ottawa. Our deepest condolences to Adam and his whole family.
With much love, Mabel-Anne and Allan and our family

I have fond memories of Aunt Eleanor from Toronto, Ottawa and Bracebridge. I remember all the good fun and laughter at Easter brunches and Christmas dinners around the big round tables at the farmhouse over the years. As I’m starting to harvest tomatoes from my own garden, I remember the tomato sandwiches she used to make us with mayonnaise and thick tomato slices fresh from the garden on hot August days. And I remember all the family stories she would tell. I want to extended my sincere condolences to Adam and his whole family. Love from Sandy and my whole family.
