It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elaine Trepanier on December 8, 2022, at age 74 following a nearly three-year battle with cancer. Diagnosed in spring of 2020, Elaine confronted the disease with courage, and endured its consequences with grace and dignity.

Born and raised in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, Elaine was working in Brandon, Manitoba when she met her husband Jean, a Lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces. They married in the summer of 1969 and Elaine took on the lifelong role of a loving and supportive military wife and mother, raising two boys over many military postings across Canada. An avid reader and baker, Elaine also loved to play bridge and enjoyed travelling with her close group of friends.

Loving mother of Michael (Christine) and Jason (Lisa), and devoted grandmother to Michaela, Sarah, Olivia and Benjamin, Elaine is survived by her sister Brenda (Greg) Thomson and brother Keith (Dianne) Foster, many nieces and nephews, and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jean Trepanier, and parents, Edward and Joyce Foster. She will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) at 2pm.

Elaine’s family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Promenade Retirement Residence for their kindness and friendship while supporting Elaine during her final two years. Our family is grateful that she is finally at peace.

In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Michael, Jason, Brenda, Keith and all the loved members of Elaine’s family,
Pat joins me in extending our very deep sympathy at Elaine’s passing. I was so lucky to call her friend for over 60 years. She is an inspiration and example of courage in how she handled these months of illness, so brave and uncomplaining.
We are consoled, knowing that her suffering is no more and she is at rest.
Together in sadness,
Joanne
