Debra Ann (Debbie) Marie Morris, age 62, passed away in her home on August 7, 2023 in the company of her husband and children.

Debbie was born in Jamaica on February 17, 1961. She and her family immigrated to Toronto when she was a young girl. She excelled both academically and in multiple sports while attending high school in Toronto. Later in life she became an accomplished tennis player and golfer.

As a young woman she became an RN; graduating from Ryerson University. She then worked in the ER in Toronto where she met her future husband. She accompanied him to Ottawa where she worked as a critical care nurse.

After raising her children, she embarked on a second career as a chef. She graduated from the Algonquin College Culinary school, whom she worked for thereafter. She also worked as a food stylist and periodically did some work at embassies and even 24 Sussex Drive.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband Warren, her children Tricia and Carl, her mother Margaret, as well as brothers Andrew and David. She is predeceased by her father, George.

A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Friday, August 18. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m., with a ceremony at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.

Debbie was always smiling, except on the golf course where she remained focused on hitting her best shots.
She was a kind and very strong lady.
Warren and family, I hope you find comfort in friends and family at this time.

I am honoured to have called Debbie my best friend for so many years. Debbie and I met through tennis and instantly I knew there was something special about her.

Debbie is one of the strongest and kindest women I know. During her courageous fight with cancer she never lost this love and kindness for others.

Although I will miss her greatly I am better off to have had the love and memories with Debbie than if we had never met.

My deepest thoughts and condolences are with Warren, Carl and Tricia.

I met Debbie through the CWGI league. She was a wonderful person, always in a good mood and a very good golfer. I was amazed by her love for golf even while she was sick. She was a fighter; 'chapeau' to her! I send my sincerest condolences to her family!
