Dear husband to Bianca (née Dzafarov). Father to Linda (Raymond Naddaf), Steve (Renata Podsadowski) and Karen Hamway. Step-father to Patricia Cava (Anthony Cava) and Claudine Saulnier.  Loving Grandfather to Lindsey Naddaf (Arash Zadeh), Mellisa (Kevin Ross), Christopher Hamway, Stephanie Hamway (Patrick Kiwan), Matthew Naddaf (Angela Younes), Dominique and Caroline LeFrancois, Francesca, Felicia and Fiora Cava and Luca and Sofia Lentini.  Great-grandchildren Mateo, Nikolas and Aviana Zadeh and Rylan Kiwan. Pre-deceased by his parents, Linda and Eid Hamway and siblings, Bahjat (Renée née Nahra), Violette (late Maurice Helal) and Claudette (George Ina).  He leaves bereaved his remaining siblings, Chouah Hayek (late Joe Hayek), Omer (Amal) and George (Theresa) Hamway as well as many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was born in Aitaneet, Lebanon on December 8, 1935 and emigrated to Canada at 18 years old in 1953. Through his wits, hard work and perseverance, he built many businesses including the “Talk of the Town Restaurant” where many Ottawans celebrated their special occasions over the years.  He supported many new immigrants to make a life in Canada by employing them and helping them thrive in this country that he loved.  He always believed that you could do and accomplish anything that you set your mind to.

Charlie lived life to the fullest, making friends everywhere he went with his Lebanese hospitality and warmth.  His lifelong passion was playing golf, which he enjoyed for over 60 years.

Friends and Family are invited to the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Tuesday, March 19th from 11:30AM until time of Funeral Service at 1:00PM in the Sacred Space of Beechwood.
