Beryl, 81, passed away on October 16, 2022, in Ottawa, surrounded by family, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Beryl was the second of four children born to Kathleen Alfred and Philip Noble in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. She was passionate about learning and obtained an undergraduate degree in French and German from Queen’s University in Belfast, a master's in Spanish from Carleton University, as well as diplomas in translation and counselling.  She spent her career as a teacher working first in Belfast, then in Montreal, and finally at Elmwood School in Ottawa where she taught French and German for over 20 years and took great joy in organizing international student exchanges and trips.

Beryl was a proud mom to Paul and Claire. She loved travel, languages, art, reading, gardening, entertaining, and attending performances at the NAC. She will be sorely missed by her children and their father Alan Millington, her dear friend Bob, and by her extended family and friends.

Claire and Paul would like to thank the staff at the Garry J. Armstrong home for their compassionate care over the last three years. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2 pm at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, 125 MacKay Street, Ottawa. If desired, a donation for Parkinson’s research or to a charity that supports education would be appreciated.

Dear Claire and Paul,
Please accept our condolences. Your mother was a lovely person and a good friend. I remember our Saguenay Drive friendship and parties. She was also a wonderful cook. Gen and I remember you and Paul well too. I met your Mother later in life through the CFUW and we shared some good memories. Parkinson’s is terrible affliction. She is peaceful now and she will always be with you. I am hoping to attend the funeral, but have family visiting so may be difficult to get away. With warm sentiments, Wendy Cohen (formerly Harte-McGrath), Genevieve and Ryan

I remember Mme Millington fondly from my years at Elmwood. Her legacy lives on as I am in the midst of organizing an exchange to France for my oldest through contacts my family met during an exchange Mme Millington organized for my sister nearly 30 years ago. Your family is in our thoughts.

and her wonderful hospitality.
