Warrant Officer (Retired) Bernard Caissie passed away December 24, 2023 in Gatineau, Quebec, of complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on May 28, 1948.

Bernard (Bernie) leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years Dianne, his daughters Sylvie (Kenny) and Michelle (Roy), his grandsons Jacob, Xavier, and Gabriel, as well as his granddaughters Audrey and Evelyn. He will also be missed by his sister Linda (Roger), his brother George (Huguette), and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is predeceased by his son Denis, his brother Raymond, his sisters Bernice and Géralda, as well as his parents Gérard and Rosalie.

Bernie proudly served his country, first as a reservist from 1966 to 1969, then as an active-duty service member of the Royal Canadian Airforce from 1969 until his retirement in 2004. During his 35 years of service, he provided support both nationally and internationally, being stationed in Masset BC, Chatham NB, Moncton NB, Trenton ON, SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) Belgium, as well as the National Defence Medical Center (NDMC) and the National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) in Ottawa ON.

Bernie cherished his family above all else and was a wonderful father and husband. He was gifted at making friends everywhere he went and was well known for his amazing sense of humour and generosity. He will be missed by so many.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Beechwood Cemetery on Saturday the 27th of January. Visitation will commence at 12:00pm, followed by a funeral liturgy at 2pm. A military burial service and reception will take place afterwards.
