André Pierre Aubry passed away unexpectedly at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on January 11, 2023 at 67 years of age.  He died peacefully with his family at his side. Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, to Gabriel Aubry and Juliette Dubois, Pierre grew up in Alexandria, Ontario.   He was the dearly beloved husband for forty years of Jane Dudley and the proud and loving father of Eric Aubry and father-in-law of Jessica Menard.  He was the devoted and cherished grand-papa of Emma and Laura Menard-Aubry.  Pierre is survived by his brothers, Jean and Richard Aubry, and his sisters, Louise Aubry, Elaine Bancroft and Claire Gorman, as well as by his sisters-in-law, Heather Aubry and Darquise Aubry.  He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, John Bancroft and Robert Gorman.  Pierre will also be missed by Jane’s siblings, Moira, Jim and Shelagh Dudley, together with their partners Martin Kitamura and Elizabeth Dawson, and by many nieces and nephews.

Pierre obtained a bachelor of arts degree in political science from York University and a bachelor of laws degree from the University of Ottawa.  Following his call to the bar in 1982, Pierre commenced practice with the firm of Mcdonald and Aubry (now Aubry Campbell MacLean) in Alexandria.  He was a supportive member of his community and was active in many organizations over the years including the Alexandria and District Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, le Club Richelieu, the Liberal Party of Canada and the Liberal Party of Ontario.  He sat on, and eventually chaired, the board of the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital and the board of St. Lawrence College. He also served on the Council of Regents.  He was instrumental in the creation of the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation and in bringing French language public education to Glengarry.  Pierre’s family and friends will deeply miss his lively intellect and sense of humour, as well as his unconditional love and support.

The family would like to thank the first responders and all of the medical staff, especially the nursing staff of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, for taking such good care of Pierre.

A celebration of Pierre’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 20, 2023 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario.  Due to limited capacity at the venue, the family will receive close friends beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Those wishing to make a donation in his memory are asked to consider the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation which was so dear to his heart or to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.

I am so sorry to hear of Pierre's passing. I have fond memories of Pierre from GDHS days: fun, smart, and kind. And he was the same on any occasion I met him in the years after. My sincere condolences.

My family and I are deeply saddened to find out of Pierre's passing. He was our trusted advisor for decades, and will be much missed. We remember especially his quick wit and approachable demeanor. We are grateful for all he helped us with over the years.

I feel better to be able to donate in Pierre's name to the Hospital Foundation. Pierre was especially helpful to me in 2018 at this offices & he told me some insights about the railway in town that I ponder almost every week. He will be missed.

Ja So sad to hear this yesterday! We live in St. Andrews, nobody let us know! He was our lawyer for over 30 years. A great man, always time to have a talk after business about family and more! Our condolences to his wife and son , and daughter in law, He talked about so much . He even told us that He was looking forward to travel more , and that his son is going to fly the international planes! This way He could fly cheaper(ha) . Always a joke and a heartwarming man. There was no luxury in his office all practical and we really liked that attitude . We think about his family and pray for them! Thank you all you did for us Pierre Aubry!
