It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Sharanne Patricia Paquette (née Bellamy) on February 21, 2024. She was taken by cancer after fighting it for over 2 years.
Sharanne was born in London, Ontario in 1959 and is survived by her loving husband Daniel Paquette and her 3 adoring children: Stéphane (Vy Tran), Marc (Kacie Layton) and Renée (Roberto Colaiacovo). She is also survived by her parents George and Ann Bellamy and her brother David (Jennifer) all of Toronto.
Sharanne was an original, kind and compassionate soul who placed family first; she was so proud of her 3 children who each carry her energy and curiosity to this day. Sharanne had a passion for design and art which started with her mother’s influence, continued at university with a degree in urban planning (minor fine arts) and ended with a career in landscape design (after going back to school) where she was entrusted to create extraordinary outdoor living spaces for some of the nicest properties in Ottawa. Sharanne was community oriented and was active in local civic issues; she also served on the City of Ottawa’s Committee of Adjustment. Sharanne’s likeable nature cultivated many friendships along the way. She was a loving and supportive wife.
The family would like to thank Doctor Stephanie Brulé of the Ottawa General Hospital, Doctor Natasha Leighl of Princess Margaret Hospital and the staff at May Court Hospice for their care of Sharanne during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 5th at 10:30 am in Beechwood’s Sacred Space. Please consider making a donation in memory of Sharanne to Hospice Care Ottawa – May Court Hospice.

I got to know Sharanne in the past couple of years, first meeting at the Ottawa Cancer Foundation where I offer Reiki sessions. I so much appreciated her big heart and the courage with which she went through her treatment. I felt that knowing her enriched my life. My sincere condolences to Daniel, Renée and other close family members and friends.

We never had the opportunity to meet Sharanne, but it is evident how very special she was. We have been next door neighbours to George and Ann at their cottage for the past 12 1/2 years. Our most sincere sympathy to the family on this sad loss.

Dear Sharanne
You are an absolutely wonderful person and I’m going to miss dearly my lifelong friend. I’ve always admired your determination and perseverance to see things to completion, which you exhibited throughout your life. Karen and I cherish the moments we have had together and were looking forward to so many more. You and Danny have created a loving family who will carry your brightness forever.
So long my friend, until we catch up again for a nice glass of wine

To George, Ann, & Dave; to Sharanne's family; and to her life's friends:
The miles and decades that grew to separate us, do not diminish the shock or sorrow that we now share. Know that Sharanne was always exactly as she seemed: a good and wise person anyone would be proud to call a friend.
with my prayers and sympathies to you all,
Dave
