John "Jock" Daniel Lund

John, I will miss you. You were a great Graduate School buddy at SLAIS and an inspiring archivist. Sad we never went to the Fraser Café for brunch, but thankful for our other brunches with Theresa in Ottawa. Thanks for introducing me to Ottawa Bad Movie Nights. Thanks for our time together.

I am very sad to learn of the passing of John Lund.  Since his arrival in Ontario to join the City of Ottawa Archives  he has been a committed and active member of the archival scene here.  I got to know John a little through his involvement with the Archives Association of Ontario and meeting up with him at conferences.  He was a colleague you could always count on to be generous with his knowledge and advice.  I found him to be a generally quiet man but with a wicked wit and not afraid to express his opinions, which were worth hearing even when one disagreed with him.  His presence in the archival community will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to Johns' family, friends and colleagues at the City of Ottawa Archives.  

John was one of the first people to make me feel like a colleague and actual archivist. He was welcoming and knowledgeable and always had time to talk. He was a very special person and will be missed by all whose lives he was a part of. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

My deepest condolences to John's family and friends - I was fortunate to have met John through his professional work - he was never afraid to speak up, passionate about his work and friendly and inclusive to all those around him. He will be missed.

To all of John’s family and friends my deepest condolences.
John was more than my colleague at City of Ottawa Archives. He was a mentor who provided fair criticism and a friend who provided comfort during difficult times. He took the time to write unique poems for birthdays, at Christmas and when providing words of comfort-often including pictures of Cleo. If not one of his own he researched out poems or song lyrics that captured his thoughts or feelings at that time and inserted them in a cord.. He offered help when needed or when least expected. During Covid he initiated “Favourite of the Week” to post photos of our favourite socks, movies, books, record albums …. He often sent out url’s of songs to rally us and make us laugh (“I don’t like Mondays”).
John I have and will continue to miss you my friend.

I offer my condolences to John’s family and friends. I consider myself incredibly lucky for having the opportunity to work with John for several years. He was an outstanding Archivist and an even better colleague. Like everyone, I will miss having John on our team.
