Ronald Bernard Lachapelle

On Sunday June 16, 2019 at the age of 76, Ron passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital.  He leaves to grieve his honeybunch Mary Ellen. He will be dearly remembered by his in-laws and cousins and also a life full of friends and work mates. Ron is pre-deceased by his parents Antonio & Colombe Lachapelle. Ron worked for Northern Electric Company and Canada Post, but his life was really about his love of cycling, running, skiing, canoeing, kayaking and he was a long time member of the Ottawa Tennis and Lawn Bowling Club. His many travels enriched his life with friends around the globe.

A celebration of life reception will be held for Ron at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa on Sunday July 7th from 2 pm to 5 pm.

For those who wish, memorial donations would be appreciated to The Aphasia Centre of Ottawa at (www.aphasiaottawa.org)

I've know Ron since we were teenagers, and although life led us to different paths, I've always thought of him as my best friend. Ron is a good example of a life well lived. Claude

I met Ron when I was still in university - met him at Camp Fortune night skiing - of course. Ron became a long time friend and travelling companion. He helped me buy my first car, helped me learn how to drive “stick” which I still do, and then of course always commented on techniques to improve skiing. My husband and I spent 21 days with Ron and friends in Val d’Isere in the early 80’s - a magnificent and cheerful trip. David and I still talk of it and the picture of Ron below brings it all back. He was a dear man and a dear friend. I’m sorry we lost touch towards the end but that is reality. My condolences to you Mary Ellen - he was a great guy.
