Adèle Vachon is an accomplished, fluently bilingual funeral director with more than two decades of experience in funeral services. Licensed in both Ontario and Québec, she obtained her Funeral Services and Embalming degree from Collège de Rosemont (Montréal, Québec), and upon graduating, received an Excellency Scholarship awarded by the Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.
She began her funeral director career working for a family owned Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematorium in Drummondville, Québec. She then joined a Montréal-based funeral service provider. While working in Montréal, Adèle also obtained a part-time teaching position, which allowed her to share her passion for the funeral industry with students in Québec’s Funeral Services and Embalming Program.
She joined Beechwood in spring 2009 when her husband’s career moved them to the National Capital Region. Adèle brings to Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services more than 30 years of experience and dedication for the families she serves.
Prior to becoming a funeral director, Adèle, among other projects, pursued undergraduate and graduate studies in anthropology, participated in community work with disadvantaged youth and participated in a highly gratifying humanitarian mission in Haiti.

Amber was born and raised in Bracebridge, a small town in the heart of Muskoka. At the age of 16 Amber began working at the local funeral home; where she discovered her love for the industry. After graduating from Humber College and receiving her Funeral Director’s License in 2010, Amber accepted an internship at a funeral home here in Ottawa, since then Amber has fallen in love with the city. The ability to help families during their most difficult time of need, in what could possibly be their darkest days is something that Amber has a natural capacity to do.

Born in Cornwall, and raised in the Eastern Ontario towns of St-Albert and Casselman, Benoit Bazinet started working at local funeral homes at the early age of 16. In 1996, he graduated with full honours from the Funeral Services Programme at Cambrian College/Collège Boréal of Sudbury, Ontario. Originally, from Hawkesbury, in Eastern Ontario, Stéphane is fluent in both French and English. He started in the profession with a childhood dream at the age of 15 with the local funeral home.
Prior to completing his education at Humber College in Toronto and receiving his Embalmer and Funeral Director’s License in 1993, he enlisted as an infantry soldier with the Governor General’s Foot Guards (GGFG) of Ottawa where he had the honour and privilege of performing in the traditional Changing of the Guard Ceremony on Parliament Hill and Rideau Hall, and the opportunity to receive several dignitaries and Heads of States. He remains, to this day, a devoted member of the Governor General’s Foot Guards Association.

Born and raised in Montréal, Tyler spent nearly a decade working at the Mount Royal Cemetery and immersing himself in the rich and diverse culture of the city. While in Montréal, he earned a Technical D.E.C. in Art Direction & Design at Dawson College.
He later earned a Bachelor’s degree at OCAD University in Toronto, where he studied on scholarship and wrote his thesis on the value of time and beauty.

Erika Wagner was born in Toronto, Ontario, and moved to Ottawa in 2011 to attend Carleton University. It was there that her passion for history and storytelling truly ignited. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History from Carleton and, in her final semester, began an internship at Beechwood Cemetery.
Upon graduation, Erika joined Beechwood full time and has remained a dedicated member of the team for over a decade. She also holds a Fundraising Certificate from Algonquin College and regularly attends professional fundraising conferences to continue expanding her knowledge and expertise.
Erika is one of two authors of The Journey of Beechwood Cemetery – Canada’s Legacy Written in Stone, a five-year project documenting the story and more than 150 year history of Beechwood Cemetery. She is also the Editor of The Beechwood Way Magazine, which is produced quarterly and keeps Beechwood supporters connected to the grounds.
Erika runs and manages the tour program, organizing visits to the grounds, creating historical plaques for self-guided tours, and developing customized tours for visitors interested in specific topics. She also manages fundraising campaigns that help ensure the Beechwood Cemetery grounds remain preserved in perpetuity.

Trevor joined Beechwood in the spring of 1997 upon graduating from the Horticulture and Landscaping Technician program at Algonquin college. In 2000, Trevor became a Certified Arborist, and 2012, a Certified Heritage Tree Inspector.
Designing and implementing new gardens, bulb, and annual flower displays is highly rewarding, but Trevor’s true passion lies in the maintenance of Beechwood’s oldest residence, its trees, and planting the next generation.

Nicolas (Nick) McCarthy joined Beechwood as the Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Outreach in February 2017.
Nick has decades of strategic communications experience working in private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining Beechwood, Nick was employed as the Director of Communication with the Association of Justice Counsel. Nick began his career in various federal government departments and agencies and then moved to the Not-For-Profit sector. Born and raised in Ottawa, Nick studied at the University of Ottawa, receiving his Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and French Literature.
Nick is married to Carolyn and is the proud but busy father of two daughters, Imogen and Quinn. When not spending time with his family, Nick enjoys reading books about world history and politics.

Allan Job joined the Beechwood management team on January 4th, 2021. Allan studied Computer Science at John Abbott College and has a Certificate of Management from McGill University.
Allan brings with him over 30 years of experience in the bereavement industry. Prior to joining Beechwood, Allan served as Senior Director of Operations for Mount Royal Commemorative Services in Montreal and was responsible for all Cemetery, Funeral and Cremation Operations.
Allan has been involved with many industry associations and currently sits on the board of the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals (OACFP).
Allan is married to Laurie and is the proud father to Tyler, Connor and Spencer.

Meaghan Shanahan was born and raised in Hudson QC, a small town just west of Montreal. Fully bilingual, she came to Ottawa in 2007 to pursue her post-secondary education. In 2010, she completed her Honours BA at Carleton University in Criminology with a concentration in psychology; she went on to complete her Master’s degree in criminology at the University of Ottawa in 2012.
Meaghan joined the Beechwood team in 2013 and has gained extensive knowledge about the bereavement industry since then. She is proud to serve families from Ottawa and its surrounding areas. In addition, she is currently the Director of Family Services.

Andrew Roy
Better known as Andy, Andrew Roy was named President and Executive Director of The Beechwood Cemetery Company and The Beechwood Cemetery Foundation on July 1st, 2018. Prior to assuming his new position, Andy joined Beechwood in May 2013 and brought with him thirty-plus years of experience in the cemetery industry.
Andy is a fourth generation cemeterian and started his career at Mount Royal Cemetery in Montréal, where he was latterly the Director of Funeral & Cremation Operations. He made the move to Ontario in 2005 and assumed the position of General Manager at Riverside Cemetery, in Lindsay, Ontario.
In 2000 Andy served as President of the Ontario Association of Cemeteries (OAC) and after the association changed its name to the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals (OACFP), he again served as President in 2010. He also has served on the OACFP Legislation Committee (now the Government Relations Committee) since moving to Ontario and has served as Chair of the Funeral Profession Coalition Council of Canada (FPCCC) two times.
Andy is married to Beverly and they are the proud parents of Michael and Sarah.
Andy is honoured to be part of Canada’s National Cemetery, and to be able to continue the “Beechwood Way.”
