SUMMARY:Dieppe Raid Commemoration Ceremony
DESCRIPTION: Wednesday\, August 19\, 2026  11:00 a.m. Amicitia France Canada Monument\, Beechwood Cemetery Join us as we commemorate the 84th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid\, one of the most significant and costly operations of the Second World War. On August 19\, 1942\, nearly 5\,000 Canadians landed on the beaches of Dieppe in occupied France. Although the operation resulted in heavy losses\, the courage and sacrifice of those who served left an enduring legacy and provided important lessons that contributed to the success of future Allied operations. Hosted by Beechwood Cemetery\, in partnership with the French Defence Team in Canada and the Embassy of France in Canada\, this commemorative ceremony will honour the Canadian and Allied service members who fought at Dieppe and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony will feature remarks from Canadian and French representatives\, wreath laying\, a period of remembrance\, and military ceremonial elements that reflect the enduring friendship and shared history between Canada and France. As we gather in remembrance\, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the service and sacrifice of the Dieppe generation will never be forgotten. This ceremony is open to the public. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects. *Coast in Dieppe in Normandy with waves and pebble beach in winter in the late afternoon.
