DESCRIPTION:Latin American Soldiers Committee Remembrance Ceremony Sunday\, October 18\, 2026 | 10:45 a.m. National Military Cemetery | 280 Beechwood Avenue\, Ottawa  Beechwood Cemetery\, in partnership with the Latin American Soldiers Committee\, invites members of the community to attend the annual Latin American Soldiers Committee Remembrance Ceremony at the National Military Cemetery.  This ceremony honours the service\, sacrifice and contributions of Canadians of Latin American heritage who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces and those who have answered the call to serve Canada throughout our military history.  Through remembrance\, we recognize the individuals and families whose stories form part of Canada’s military heritage and ensure that their contributions continue to be shared with future generations.  The ceremony will bring together members of the Latin American community\, representatives of the Canadian Armed Forces\, members of the diplomatic community\, veterans\, families and members of the public for a meaningful act of remembrance. SUMMARY:Eastern Tour of Beechwood Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:Sign up here! The eastern half of Beechwood Cemetery is rich with cultural and military history. Participants will visit some of the cemetery’s largest community sections and walk among the headstones of military\, RCMP\, Ottawa Police\, and CSIS veterans. This tour offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the unique features of Beechwood and the stories of lesser-known\, but deeply influential\, individuals who helped shape Canada.  The tour of Beechwood Cemetery is led by trained volunteers and focuses on local history and notable features and sections within this National Historic Site.   The tour is free of charge\, and is family friendly. The route for the Stroll is a gentle 1.5-2 hour walk and is wheelchair accessible. Please wear good walking shoes\, clothing suitable for the weather\, apply bug spray and bring water if needed.  Please meet your guide at the Pagoda\, it is right near the St. Laurent gate entrance. You can park along the side of road\, so long as another car can pass. It is recommended you enter Beechwood Cemetery from the St. Laurent Gate or follow the yellow line from the Beechwood Ave entrance until you see the pagoda (approx. 5 min drive).  Be sure to come back again for the Western Tour of Beechwood Cemetery!

DESCRIPTION:Ottawa Chapter – Day of Tribute Friday\, October 23\, 2025 | 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM Tank at Beechwood Cemetery | 280 Beechwood Ave\, Ottawa In-Person Event  Each year before the November 11 Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa\, the Ottawa Chapter Day of Tribute event takes place to honour and remember Canada’s veterans. Created in 2005 by Sharon Rouette-Urquhart of Green Unlimited\, the annual event provides a way for professionals in the landscape and horticulture community to use their expertise to beautify and maintain the grounds of Canada’s National Military Cemetery as a way to give back to those individuals\, their families and loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  The event has seen great participation from many sector group members in Ottawa\, including grounds maintenance\, lawn care\, designers\, garden centres\, irrigation\, landscape contractors\, arborists\, horticulturalists\, and students.  Timeline   7:30 AM – Registration\, donuts and muffins\, coffee and tea. 8:00 AM – Opening Remarks by Pete Campbell and Trevor Davidson\, Beechwood Cemetery. 11:00 AM – Lunch and departure.

Join us at Beechwood Cemetery for the unveiling of the General H.D.G. Crerar Memorial Wall\, honouring one of Canada’s most significant military leaders and the commander of the First Canadian Army during the Second World War.  General Harry Crerar’s legacy reminds us that remembrance must extend beyond words and ceremonies. It requires a commitment to preserving history\, sharing stories and ensuring that future generations understand the service and sacrifice of those who came before them.  This unveiling will officially mark the beginning of Beechwood’s annual Remembrance period\, leading toward November 11.  It is a fitting occasion to reflect on the importance of active remembrance – not simply remembering those who served\, but taking meaningful action to honour their contributions and carry their legacy forward.  Through education\, community participation and commemoration\, we ensure that remembrance remains a living responsibility.  We invite veterans\, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces\, families and the wider community to join us for this important occasion.  Remembrance is not passive. It is something we do.
