SUMMARY:Celebrating Valour: Film Screening & Panel Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join Us on September 9\, 2026 for Celebrating Valour: Film Screening & Panel Conversation Presented in partnership with The Veterans Channel Beechwood Cemetery\, in partnership with The Veterans Channel\, invites you to a powerful evening of national reflection as we present a special screening of Celebrating Valour\, a documentary showcasing the lived experiences of Canada’s Star of Military Valour recipients. This landmark film features deeply personal interviews with individuals whose courage\, resilience\, and self-sacrifice have shaped Canada’s modern military story. Building on the momentum of the 2024 “Heroes Among Us” event at the Hockey Hall of Fame—with leadership voices such as Ron MacLean and General Rick Hillier—this documentary amplifies a nationwide conversation about bravery\, service\, and the legacy of those who step forward when it matters most. A Documentary Rooted in History Celebrating Valour weaves together remarkable firsthand accounts with the longstanding relationship between Canada’s military and the world of professional hockey. The film highlights figures such as Conn Smythe\, founder of the Toronto Maple Leafs and a veteran of both World Wars\, and explores how NHL players trained for wartime service while still wearing their hockey uniforms. This narrative underscores hockey’s enduring role in shaping Canadian identity and its deep historic ties to national service. A Panel Featuring the Voices of Valour Following the screening\, guests will engage in a live panel discussion featuring Star of Military Valour recipients. Their insights will offer a rare opportunity to hear directly from individuals whose actions have defined exceptional bravery.
