It’s with great sadness that the family of Gary Younghusband announce his sudden passing on 24 February 2021. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Alicia (nee Cowan) Younghusband, and step-mother Theresa Younghusband (nee Carriere).

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Lois (nee Elliott), their children Wayne (Myong), Kimberley (Carl), Jill (Brian) and Alan (Margaret). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Emily, Liam, Madeleine, Evelyn and Jack, brothers Wayne (Katherine), Keith (Lynn), sister Anne (Bob), best friend Bob Liberty (Elizabeth) and many wonderful friends.

After 35 years of service and a number of postings with the Canadian Army, Gary and Lois retired to Cobden Ontario, where they became active members of the local CIVITAN Club and in recent years enjoyed wintering in Destin, Florida. Known for enjoying a good laugh, Gary loved a good time and truly enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. An interment is planned to be held in the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to www.hospicerenfrew.ca or a charity of your choice. Thank you to all who have supported our family and expressed their sympathies in this most difficult time. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

The world has lost a wonderful man who loved his wife above all. He had a heart of gold and a sense of humor that made everyone laugh with his mischief and dry wit. He will be truly missed by many!!

Such a wonderful person and family. I’m not good with words but they can bring comfort during such times. My heart hurts for family and friends knowing what will be missed with his passing. I can only imagine all the great times you all had. I only worked with him a few years but they were the best. Humour and great work ethic, spoke lovingly of Lois and his kids all the time. Respected so much.
