A first class family man and an esteemed member of the Canadian Armed Forces

On April 5, 2020, Marc Rouleau passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 54. Marc was thoughtful in his words and actions, always quick witted and he lived with intention and purpose. Most of all, he took unmeasurable pride in his family's team-like approach to life and unconditional love for one another.

His legacy lives on through his wife and best friend Nathalie, his children Nicolas (Mary Anne), Alexa (Jean-Christian) and Michaël (Marina), his loving mother Diane (and late father Normand), his brother Mike, his mother-in-law Colette (and late father-in-law Roland), his brothers-in-law Guy (Jocelyne) and Denis (Paula), his nephews Kevin (Stéphanie), Jonathan (Sonia) and late Marc-Alexandre, his niece Annabelle (Dante) and his first grandchild. After being diagnosed with cancer, Marc's known resilience was exemplary and his desire to fight never wavered.

A church service will be held at a later date in Orleans, Ontario for family and friends to celebrate Marc's life.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Eye Institute or the Canadian Cancer Society.

I'm so saddened to hear of Marc's passing. He was far too young to leave us. My family met Marc (Nathalie and Michael) through amateur sports in Orleans. Marc was an exceptional coach in both hockey and soccer and left a lasting impression on many young athletes (and their parents). I enjoyed many talks with Marc. He was friendly, funny and intelligent. Someone to admire. Marc left a lasting legacy. Please accept our deepest condolences. Michael, Catrina, Graeme and the rest of the Currans.

Marc was a gentleman senior officer that gained respect from all through his diligence at his tasks, his sense of mission and very strong work ethic, his candid and calm communication skills and simply one of our finest and a very great source of pride to his Dad's memory, his Mom, his very close brother and his young family. He truly was a ma that we loved to serve with and had total confidence in. I had the privilege to gain from his intellectual equity and succinct analysis and very practical/logical recommendations. He was a great kid when I first met him in Valcartier at the early years of the 5e in the PMQs, and remained a young man of most commendable human engagement with those around him, a fine hockey player for the Regiment, and an example of commitment to those he loved and loyalty to all the various arenas he worked in, in and out of uniform. I truly liked this young gentleman and enjoyed all opportunities to ark and socialise with him.

I am deeply saddened to learn Colonel Marc no longer walks among us. He was a wonderful role model, mentor and leader. He was also an inspiration to many of us who were lucky enough to work with him. Marc will be sorely missed.
