Due to government-imposed restrictions related to COVID-19, attendance will be restricted to a very limited number of individuals, personally invited by the family.

Mr. Tom Pon passed away peacefully on Friday June 4, 2021, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife Joan, daughters Marion, Mona (Rob), sons Gordon (Doret), Winston (Heather), granddaughter Jodie (Mickeal), and great granddaughter Ava.

Mr. Pon was a kind, loving, hardworking, and generous man, who never stopped loving and caring for his family. For Mr. Pon, being a father and taking care of his children and Joan meant the world to him. His children cherish the letters that he sent them every week, letting them know that he loved them and that they were always in his heart and mind. The letters were like weekly treasures of tenderness and assurances of his unconditional love, and lucky money for even the furry family members! He cared deeply for Joan, ensuring he regularly brought her groceries right up to his 85th year, and clearing her walkway of snow in the winter and cutting the grass in the summer until he turned 80. When she had knee surgery a few years ago, he cooked her a delicious frog leg soup to aid in her recovery.

As he neared the end of his life, Mr. Pon spoke less but held and kissed the hands of his children, saying goodbye in a gentle, tender, and affectionate way. Instead of his trademark fashion of ending telephone calls to his children with “take care, good luck, and I love you,” the kiss on their hands told them that he had lived a fulsome life, he was proud of his family, and his love for them was eternal.

Mr. Pon was deeply loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace and in the loving arms of the God of his understanding.

Services for Mr. Pon will be held on Friday, June 11, but will be private due to the current pandemic situation.

Sending our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Pon. We never had the pleasure of meeting in person but have heard many stories and had a few quick video chats so he could interact with my young son.
Our thoughts and love are with all of you during this difficult time.

To our dear Grandpa Tom,
we will miss you greatly as you always wished us well in your many letters. Your kind words wishing us well and good health were appreciated and loved. We are also so happy that Ava got to know you as her "Bak Gong" and spoke of you fondly. We have a picture of Grandpa next to other family pictures and she regularly points to the picture and identifies him as "Papa's Dada", while nodding sagely.
We will miss you so much.
Love your grandkids Jodie & Mickeal and our daughter, your great grandchild Ava

Not having met Tom, I still was saddened and effected by his passing. Being the father of Heather Ainslie , I was able to see Tom through his son Winston. Thoughtful, kind, and personable describe some of the wonderful attributes of both these men. I am sure the Pon family all hold those distinguishing qualities.
Be strong of heart.
Mine goes out to you.

I wanted to meet Mr. Tom Pon - he represented a courageous, adventurous and visionary immigrant. Yes, I wanted him to rub off his tenacity to me, an immigrant too. Yet again I saw him in the kindness, intelligence, compassion and tenacity of Gordon.Thank you sir for giving us the gift of your children. At at a personal level your life rewarded me with brother, Gordon. Farewell Tom for now.
