Portrait de Philip Charles Jackman

Phil passed at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, Ottawa, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after a brief illness, two days after his 78th birthday. Born in Paddington, London, son of the late Alfred and Lilian Jackman.

After attending university in Sussex, Phil trained and worked as a high school science teacher in England before moving into a career in high-tech systems. He emigrated with his family to Canada in December 1982, where he continued his career in computer systems, eventually establishing his own consulting company in Ottawa specializing in government messaging and communications.

He was an enthusiastic family historian and a lover of sports, music, and science&technology.

Survived by his loving wife Laura; his children Keren (Jonathan) and Jareth; his stepson Robert (Hannah); his grandchildren Abby, Marlowe, Indy and Eli; his brother Russell (Genevieve) and sister Angela; and Linda, mother of his children. Phil will be greatly missed.

In keeping with Phil’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa https://www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate/ would be appreciated. Many thanks for the kindness and care at Ruddy-Shenkman.
