With heavy and broken hearts, we announce that Tom died suddenly on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. For those that knew him well, you know that although he hated being in the hospital, he got his wish of being at the Civic, where he spent many years working. Tom was the loving husband to Lorna, proud father to Adam and Mathew (Matt). He deeply loved and was so proud of his grandchildren Nicholas, Sabrina, and Karissa. His dry and sarcastic humour will be missed by his sisters Irene (Arpi Papai) and Teri (Bruno Carchidi), and by his 4 nephews Tom, Steve, Devin, and Eric.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10th at Fat Boys Smokehouse Speakeasy, 34 Murray St. from 4-6 pm with Words of Remembrance at 4:15pm. We request that you dress as Tom did – comfortably! No suits please. For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lung Health Foundation in memory of Tom.
