It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lai-Yim Lui on September 16th, 2026, who passed peacefully in her sleep while in the care of the Peter D. Clark long-term care home in Ottawa.

Born in China in 1933, Lai-Yim moved to Hong Kong in the 1940s and got married and started a family.  She was also a hardworking and dependable seamstress in a clothing factory.   She immigrated to Canada in 1992 and enjoyed living in Ottawa while raising her two Canadian grandchildren.  She loved exploring YouTube and finding old Chinese movies to watch.

Lai-Yim was predeceased to the late Shu-Wing.  She is survived by her four children Derek (Phyllis), Kenneth (Amy), Lynn (Sam), and Joanne (Ip), her grandchildren Anthony, Jessica, Alison, Samson, and Marco.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Peter D. Clark long-term care home for their care and compassion over the past two and half years.

A private ceremony will be held on September 22nd, 2026. For those who wish to attend, an inurnment will take place on September 29th, 2026 at 10AM at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa).
