It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Goneau Jr, he left this world peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 22 2026, at the age of 77.

Roger was born April 5, 1949, in Eastview (Vanier), son of Roger and Colombe (nee Labrecque) Goneau.

Roger started his career as a firefighter for the city of Vanier in 1976, then in 1985 was amalgamated with the Ottawa Fire Department. Moved on to become an arson investigator, and finished his career as Assistant Division Chief of Fire Prevention, after 32 years of dedicated service.

In 1974, he married the love of his life Therese Goneau (nee Cousineau) and they shared 52 years of marriage together.

Roger was a proud member of l’Institut Canadien-Francais d’Ottawa were he enjoyed playing darts and horseshoe.

He is survived by his wife Therese Goneau (nee Cousineau), his daughters Melanie Goneau (Darrell), Sophie Goneau and his grand daughters Vanessa Da Silva (Laporte) (Antoni) and Stephanie Laporte. He also leaves his brother Donald (Ginette), Robert, and his sister Margo. He also leaves a number of nephews and nieces. He was preceeded in death by his father Roger Goneau, his mother Colombe Goneau (nee Labrecque) and his sister Julie.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday June 26, 2026 at 10:00am at Beechwood National Memorial Centre located at 280 Beechwood Ave. Family will be accepting condolences starting at 9:00am.

All who knew Roger Goneau are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Diabetes association. Diabetes Donation
