It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Ann Barnes on June 7, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Betty was the eldest child of William and Sadie Duffe and sister to William, David, and Diane. She shared nearly 65 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Donald Barnes.

Betty was a loving mother to Terry (Lori), Rhonda, and Tanya (Luc), and a proud grandmother to Kyle, Jayden, Ryan, and Ashton.

Bette was happiest with a dog on her lap, drinking a Diet Coke, crafting a new project, sneaking chocolate, looking for yard sales and shopping! Bette and Don spent many enjoyable winters in Florida, creating many happy memories with family and friends. Bette will be remembered for her generous heart, friendly nature, shy smile, a love for Elvis and everything country!

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on July 14, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adult Day Program at Perley Health or Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

We are incredibly grateful for the genuine and compassionate care shown by the staff at Venvi Alta Vista Manor. Betty immediately felt welcomed and part of their family. It wasn’t just what they did, it was how they made her feel. Betty was able to maintain her dignity, pride, and sense of self-worth during her final months. Our family will always be thankful.

Dear Terry, Lori, Rhonda, Tanya and Luc, Kyle, Ryan, Jayden and Ashton,

    Xoxo with so much love,
    Marie
Betty was one in 1 million and was so loved by so many because of her kindest easy way she always was so down to earth and her pure joy of the simple things.
We definitely had a special bond. (Maybe our combined love of shopping)
She was always a second mom to me! One of my favourite people.
One of my favorite memories was going to the Ottawa exhibition concert with her back in 1977
    ‘ Engelbert Humperdinck’
-loved him almost as much as Elvis.
Not quite but we sure had fun.
I will always miss her beautiful heart and her beautiful smile.

  4. So sorry for your loss

  5. I’m so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing, she was always so kind and welcoming every time I saw her. Our deepest condolences go out to you all.
Love from Nancy, Mike, Sofia & Maya
