Portrait de Ardie Rowan

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ardie Rowan, in her 90th year, beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Rowan, on Sunday, May 17, following a brief illness.

Ardie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Muriel Davis, and her brothers Eric, Allison, John, and Joey. She is survived by her brother Ralph.

She was a devoted and loving mother to Charlene (Pierre) and David (Caroline), and stepmother to Carla and Dawn Rowan. Ardie was an immensely proud grandmother to Stephanie (Toby), Melissa, Noah (Sami), Zachary, Alec, Spencer, Oliver, Grace, and Nicholas, and cherished great-grandmother to Evelyn, Maxime, and Brooklyn. She also leaves behind several beloved nephews.

Born and raised in Antigonish, Ardie took tremendous pride in her nursing career, especially her years working on the 4th floor maternity ward, where she formed many lifelong friendships and touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion.

Ardie and Bill shared a love of travel and created many treasured memories together through their adventures over the years.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Dundas Manor for the compassionate care and support they provided to both Ardie and Bill during their time there. Their kindness and dedication will always be deeply appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ardie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

A private family gathering will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

  1. To lose a friend like Ardie is like losing a part of yourself and your existence. If everyone in this world was blessed to have one friend like her, we would hear more laughter, feel more love, share great experiences and know that anything you shared would be as though it were in cased in a steel vault. Ardie was that kind of a one-in-million friend. I will forever carry our laughter, love, and secrets and miss the voice that always touched my heart. She was a wonderful friend, mother and all around beautiful human being. Her children reflect those same characters . Ardie was so blessed to have a wonderful son like David and daughter in-law like Caroline who took great care of her…always seeing to her every need. Although Charlene was farther away, she made regular trips to see her mom. They are blessed to have Ardie’s good and caring soul. My heart is broken but I treasure the gift of friendship we shared forever. Rest in peace Ardie, until we laugh together again. My most sincere condolences to her family who cared so lovingly for her. Sandy Mellish

  2. So sorry for your loss. Our deepest and most sincere condolences Charlene, Pierre and family. May she rest in peace.

  3. My sincere condolences, Ardie was a wonderful lady and she will be missed.

  4. Hmmmmm where do I start?

Although I didnt see Ardie as much as I would love to have recently, we spent alot of time together in Bermuda. She was a wonderful women who I adored and loved like a Mother. Not only was she a wonderful women, her children are two of the best people on this earth- which is only testament to her!

I will miss you but also know you are now back with Bill and the other leaf fans !

  5. Our most sincere condolences to you and your family. She was a great ladie. She will be missed🙏
