Erika Wagner
Erika Wagner was born in Toronto, Ontario, and moved to Ottawa in 2011 to attend Carleton University. It was there that her passion for history and storytelling truly ignited. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History from Carleton and, in her final semester, began an internship at Beechwood Cemetery.
Upon graduation, Erika joined Beechwood full time and has remained a dedicated member of the team for over a decade. She also holds a Fundraising Certificate from Algonquin College and regularly attends professional fundraising conferences to continue expanding her knowledge and expertise.
Erika is one of two authors of The Journey of Beechwood Cemetery – Canada’s Legacy Written in Stone, a five-year project documenting the story and more than 150 year history of Beechwood Cemetery. She is also the Editor of The Beechwood Way Magazine, which is produced quarterly and keeps Beechwood supporters connected to the grounds.
Erika runs and manages the tour program, organizing visits to the grounds, creating historical plaques for self-guided tours, and developing customized tours for visitors interested in specific topics. She also manages fundraising campaigns that help ensure the Beechwood Cemetery grounds remain preserved in perpetuity.
Outside of her professional life, she enjoys international travel, spending time with her two fluffy cats, and watching sitcoms. In 2024, Erika was married in Sligo, Ireland.
