Sharon Anne Perkins passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her partner Andy Coates; children: Daniel (Helen) Perkins and Jaime (Chris) Kirchner; grandma to Aidan and Evan Kirchner; brother to Barry (Sue) Tate. She was predeceased by her husband Fred (2005) of 33 years, and parents Marguerite and Oswald Tate.
Sharon was passionate about playing cards and games with friends and family. She always had a good time sharing many laughs around the table and of course winning. She was an avid player of bridge and achieved her Silver Life Masters. Sharon also enjoyed reading, skiing, snowshoeing, time at the cottage and traveling. She will be fondly remembered for her outgoing nature and will always have a special place in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 2-4pm at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON). Words of remembrance to take place at 2:30pm.
Memorial donations may be made to Myeloma Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

I was 17 years old when Sharon came into our lives. Fred was home on leave and had met Sharon. Sharon always filled the room with her personality wherever she went. They married, bought the Townhouse and then along came Jaime & Daniel. While taking care of two newborns both of them returned to University and got their Masters Degrees. Fred figured they had maybe 3 or 4 spare hours a week. Raised two outstanding children, and advanced their careers. Unfortunately Fred passed away 19 years ago and sometime later along came Andy who also became her companion and soulmate. Andy you will always have our appreciation for the caring and support you have provided for Sharon.
I could go on and on about the many positive things about Sharon's life but would prefer just to say Sharon had a life well lived that was full of great experiences.

Sharon loved hosting us for book club and always was involved in choosing good books she was a fighter and we will miss her she always made us feel so welcome and happy when we were together she made a difference and I will miss her enthusiasm she was fighter with her struggle with cancer may she now rest in peace she will be missed Andy was her rock and loved her family it’s a sad day

Sharon and I met in our very first years of teaching(1967). We were rookies and immediately established a friendship mainly through what we loosely called a "bridge" group...lots of laughs, many a good story, little playing of cards. Sharon very much took an interest in her family and friends' lives. She showed bravery and resilience in the challenges she met along the journey of life.

Sharon’s beautiful smile is so wonderfully depicted in the picture chosen above. We were privileged to have know her through pickleball games at the park, gatherings and conversations. She will be missed.
