With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mae Yung (Mae) Draker, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Surrounded by her family, Mae passed away peacefully at the age of 71 at the Civic Hospital following an unexpected brain injury.

Mae was an inspiration and a role model to her two daughters, Stephanie (Randy) and Jessica (Joshua). She will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, Bun (Yan-Qing), Mae-Hah, Mae-Ling (Ron), Hazel (Per) and John (Christine), her nieces and nephews, Zi-Ann, Geoffrey, Nathan and Rachel, as well as many other family members and friends.

Mae will be remembered for her infectious laugh, zest for life, story-telling, cooking, and her passion for travel.  She enjoyed a very rewarding 37 year career with Royal Bank in Ottawa and cherished her many friendships with colleagues and customers.

Family and friends are invited to visit and pay their respects on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON) between 1:30pm and 4:00pm. A Memorial Service will be followed at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca) and/or Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca).

I am ever so grateful to have had my sister-in-law Mae in my life. Her joie de vivre was contagious, her deadpan humour delightfully funny, her stories always engaging, her caring inspirational.
From the moment I met Mae, over 35 years ago, she always embodied generosity and warmth to me. Everyone was welcome in her home and at her table. Family, friends, and giving were at Mae's core. She showed how to be a kind, caring, resilient and upbeat person. A lesson I took to heart and tried to live up to.
Mae's spirit lives on in the many she so touched. Rest in peace Mae.

We only knew you for a short time but you will be in our hearts forever. What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others. Love from your little sister down under ????????

Hazel, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. We only met her once this summer, but it was clear after our dinner and ice cream date how much she loved her daughters, you and the rest of her family, and how proud she was to work at RBC (but more importantly, how much she was enjoying every day of retirement!). Known as ‘the lady who bought me the chocolate ice cream’ by my daughter Charlotte, we will always remember her sweet, kind, and calm demeanor. We wish you comfort in this very sad time to you and the rest of your family. May she Rest In Peace and watch over each of you! Xo.

We travelled with Mae on a couple cruises and found her to be quite jovial and pleasant.
Please accept our condolences.

My Condolences to Mae's Family, she will be missed our plans on where to travel to next, my last memories of waving good-bye to her at the Taiwan Airport while she was having a foot massage. Always cool calm and collected, May she rest in piece.

Our deepest condolences to the family on the loss of a caring, kind, spectacular lady whom we've known since 2005 when she assisted my late mother who enjoyed inviting Mae for lunch on occasion and afterward my friendship; I will miss her company and the engaging conversations. She was a great lady !

Mae Yung was held in great esteem by her sister, my friend Hazel. They enjoyed a very close and special relationship. May the many memories of good times comfort Hazel and her family during this difficult time. Her legacy lives on in her two beautiful daughters. Mae Yung will be deeply missed.
