It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Gary Price. He passed away peacefully Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital with his family by his side. Gary was born August 28, 1934 in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Beloved husband of Renee (Ouellette) for 70 years, proud father of Darlene (Graham), Linda (Doug), and Stacey. Loving grandfather to TJ, Kallie, Jason (Taylor), Caitlin (Mike) and Paige and great grandfather to Katrina, Chase, Asher, Caden, Zachariah, Tobin, Luke and Mya. Gary is lovingly remembered by his brother, Gilbert (Al) Price and his much-loved cousins Gaye (Pierre) and Faye (George) of Niagara. He is fondly remembered by his many nephews. Gary was predeceased by his dearly loved son Tim (Mitch) and son-in-law Frank Garcia.

Gary joined the Air Force in 1952 and became part of the Logistics team. He was posted to Metz, France; Warner Robins, Georgia; Toronto, Edmonton and Ottawa with his family. He was deployed with the UN Troops to the Golan Heights in 1980.  Gary made it a point to explore the areas where he was transferred, travelling with his family throughout Europe, the USA and Canada, and on his own to the Middle East. He continued to plan trips after his retirement, only closer to home, so Gracie, their dog could join them. She was a well-travelled dog.

When Gary retired his uniform after 32 years, he was a member of the F-18 procurement, maintenance and contract team. He loved his job and continued to do the same position in the Civil Service for another 22 years.

Gary was a quiet man with strong convictions, rules were rules and you had better pay attention. He had a tough exterior, but deep within, we all knew he was soft-hearted. We joked about it with him, especially his daughters and granddaughters, saying "Dad (Grandpa), we love you". He would give a little grunt and smile. Gary was a true blue Toronto Maple Leafs, Argonauts and Blue Jays fan. He had hope every year for his teams, and we know without a doubt, he will continue to root for them in his heavenly state. Maybe, this will be their year!

Gary will be missed and loved forever, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Civic Hospital Emergency Department for their exceptional care, support and compassion.

Service will be held at the grave site at the National Military Cemetery (Beechwood Cemetery-Military Section 103) on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11 AM. Reception to follow at 4007 Torbolton Ridge Rd, Woodlawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hearth & Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation.
